How to use Google Maps offline on Android

Follow these instructions to utilize Google Maps offline on an Android device:


1. Update Google Maps

Ensure that the Google Maps program on your Android device is updated to the most recent version. Updates can be checked for on the Google Play Store.


2. Establish an online connection

You must have a working internet connection in order to download maps for offline use. on download and store the maps on your device, you must complete this step.


3. Launch the Google Maps app on your Android phone or tablet

4. Sign in to your Google account

If you haven't done so previously, sign in by touching the menu symbol (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner and choosing "Sign in" from the list of alternatives. Enter your Google account credentials to sign in.


5. Select an area

Tapp on your image profile.


Select "Offline maps"


Click on "SELECT YOUR OWN MAP"


To find the area you want to download for offline usage, use your fingers to pan and zoom the map.


6. Download the map

Before the download option appears, you might need to modify the size if the region is too big by zooming in or out. Select the size of the map: Google Maps will ask you to choose the size of the map region to download. By enlarging or decreasing the size, you can change it. Keep in mind that larger spaces need more storage on your smartphone. After selecting the size, click on "Download" button.


7. Be patient while Google Maps downloads

The location you've chosen for offline use. The size of the map and the speed of your internet connection will determine how long it takes to download. Make sure your internet connection is steady, then wait patiently for the download to finish.


8. Access offline maps

Use offline maps at any time without an internet connection after the map download is complete. Even without an active internet connection, you may view and use the downloaded map by simply opening the Google Maps app.


Keep in mind that the offline maps have restrictions, such as not offering turn-by-turn directions or real-time traffic updates. You can still see where you are, look for particular locations, and obtain directions between stored destinations.


Go to the "Offline maps settings" menu within the Google Maps app. From there you can set:

"Auto-update offline maps"
"Auto-download recommended maps"
"Download preferences"

Go to the "Offline maps" menu to update, view, rename or delete offline maps.


As Google updates its maps frequently to reflect changes in roads, landmarks, and other information, the map data may eventually become out-of-date.


It is advised to frequently update your downloaded maps by refreshing the offline maps within the Google Maps app to keep them current. As a result, you can use offline map data that is up to date and as accurate as possible.
